Danelle Chapman | LPC, NCC, RYT-200
I began Counseling in 2004 as a Middle School Counselor. I worked with this age group for nine years doing a lot of collaboration with teachers and families. We worked to change unhelpful behaviors and improve emotional health in order to improve student's academic and social/emotional competence in school.
During this time I was introduced to Yoga Calm® and began teaching it as part of my group counseling work and in partnership with the health class. That is when I began to really feel like I was finding my niche in counseling. I witnessed my students finding the confidence and calm to address the thoughts that weren’t serving them and cope with challenges in their lives they didn’t have control over. I opened my private practice in 2010 while still working in the schools and worked with couples, families, and individuals. I offered Yoga Calm® to the youth and families I worked with in my practice.
In 2013 I moved to working in a High School as a School Counselor and put my private practice on hold in 2015 for a couple years to focus on being a new mom. I worked in the High School Setting from 2013-2018. In 2018 I made the difficult and exciting decision to leave my work in schools and focus fully on pursuing my passion of combining mindfulness, yoga, and self-compassion practices in a private practice counseling setting. I also had the honor and pleasure to continue my training with the creators of Yoga Calm® and earned my RYT-200 (Registered Yoga Teacher) certification with them in June 2017.
Currently in my practice I work with teens and families, adults, and couples. I pull mostly from my experience and my training in mindfulness and yoga, DBT skills training, and couples counseling training's from John and Julie Gottman. I also completed all of the courses (except 1) in the marriage, couples, family graduate certificate program at Portland State University. I love reading and staying up on the research of relationships, stress, anxiety, depression, self-compassion, and mindfulness. I'm excited by all the hope in the research and bring this with me to my practice.
I am a Licensed School Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Yoga Calm® Teacher, and Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).
Feel free to contact me so we can discuss your needs and determine if I would be a good fit to help you meet your counseling goals.

Yours in Mindful Movement and good heath, Danelle
